Nicholas Libous Announces Bid for State Assembly Seat
A son of the late Senator Thomas Libous says he's running for the New York State Assembly.
Nicholas Libous released a statement Tuesday morning announcing his candidacy for the 122nd District seat now held by fellow Republican Clifford Crouch.
The move by Libous sets up a September GOP primary contest with Crouch, who last week announced he was seeking another term.
Libous, who resides in the town of Sanford, said his campaign would "focus on affordability and high taxes, job creation and reforming the way Albany does business."
Libous is vice president of Wireless Construction Solutions of Binghamton. His father served in the state Senate for nearly three decades.
Crouch released a statement shortly after Libous announced he was running. He did not mention the upcoming primary challenge but he did say "there's more work to be done."
Crouch said he was proud to have the support of senators Fred Akshar and James Seward, as well as the Republican chairs of Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties.
