Study Finds 963k New Yorkers ‘Drink Dangerously’
Most of us know that New Yorkers like to lift a cold one, and it doesn't matter whether it's to celebrate an achievement or to drown our sorrows. But how much do we turn to liquid courage to help us cope with everyday New York life?
A recent study by My Bio Source on New Yorkers and their drinking habits have revealed some interesting answers. Would you believe it if I told you that a whopping 963,026 people in the Empire State are living life on the edge by 'drinking dangerously?"
According to the study, nearly 1/3rd (31.8%) of New Yorkers have high blood pressure without the help of alcohol, and that is a health concern on its own. Can you say "Lisinopril?" But when you throw heavy drinking into the mix, things get even riskier.
Alcohol messes with your blood vessels, and that causes problems with your blood pressure and increases the chances of serious health issues like a heart attack or strokes, especially if you have hypertension.
My Bio Source also found out that over 15% of New Yorkers with hypertension are hitting the bottle pretty hard. It's wild to think that some folks are willing to take the gamble just for the pleasure they get from alcohol.
But, we all have the power to make better choices for ourselves, right? Maybe it's time for these New Yorkers to rethink their drinking habits and put their health first. Think about this: How many times when you've done something that you really regret, that alcohol was involved in one way or another?
