New York State’s Dream Kitchens Revealed
If you’ve ever thought about your perfect kitchen, chances are it looks a lot like what’s already going on in New York City. Wren Kitchens took a look at more than 24,000 active home listings across the state, and the Big Apple easily took the crown for feature-packed kitchens with an almost perfect score of 99 out of 100.
Buffalo and Rochester Get a Slice of the Spotlight
While New York City ran away with the top spot, Buffalo and Rochester also made appearances on the list. Buffalo scored 4.8 out of 100, while Rochester came in with 3.6. Sure, they are a far cry from the Big Apple’s sky-high score, but it shows that stylish kitchens aren’t just a city thing — they’re popping up in Western and Upstate New York as well.
What Buyers Want Most in a Kitchen
So, what exactly makes a kitchen desirable? Beverage centers topped the list with more than 27,000 mentions in home listings. Hardwood floors came in big with over 16,000 mentions, and natural light followed with more than 6,000. Add in things like custom cabinetry, and it’s clear that today’s buyers want a kitchen that feels both practical and personal.

Kitchens Are More Than Just for Cooking
A spokesperson from Wren Kitchens explained it this way: the modern kitchen isn’t just a place to cook anymore. It’s a reflection of the homeowner’s personality, lifestyle, and priorities. In other words, the kitchen has become the heart of the home, a space people want to show off as much as they want to use.
