New York Picks McDonald’s as Its Favorite Fast Food French Fry

French fries are one of those foods people feel strongly about. Some people want them thin and salty. Others want curly fries, waffle fries, or thick steak fries. A new survey asked more than 2,500 people from all 50 states to name their favorite fast food fries. In New York State, McDonald’s came out on top.

New Yorkers Pick McDonald’s Fries

People in New York gave McDonald’s fries an average score of 7.5 out of 10. That was the highest rating for any fast food fry in the state. McDonald’s also finished first across the country.

Its fries had an average score of 7.3 out of 10 from people who said they had tried them. Almost everyone (99.7%) in the survey had eaten McDonald’s fries at some point in their life.

America’s Top Four Fries

The survey named four restaurants as America’s “Mount Rushmore” of fast food fries. McDonald’s took the top spot. Five Guys and Chick fil A tied for second place, with an average score of 6.7 out of 10.

Arby’s came in fourth with a score of 6.3. Five Guys is known for its fresh cut fries, while Chick fil A serves waffle fries. Arby’s has curly fries, which have a very different shape and texture from traditional fries.

Thin Fries Are the Favorite Shape

They also asked people which fry shape they like most. Thin or shoestring fries were the big winner, with 35 percent of people choosing them. Curly fries came in second at 16 percent.

Steak fries and waffle fries tied for third at 13 percent each. When it comes to dipping sauces, ketchup was the most popular choice. Ranch was also a favorite. But many people said the best fries do not need any sauce at all.
