The Schoolhouse tours kick off at 5:30 p.m. and will give you a sneak peek into the past. Don't forget to check out the "Schoolhouses in Maine before 1940" photography exhibit at the Janet W. Bowers Museum!

The night begins with a quick history lesson on Schoolhouse No. 4 and its epic journey to Newark Valley. From patriotic flag ceremonies to sing-alongs with Charlene Thomson, get ready for a night of good vibes, poetry, and community love. Also, the Maine Memorial PTA  will plant a tree, talk about leaving a green mark!

This schoolhouse has quite the story to tell! Built in 1845, it found a new home in Newark Valley thanks to Diane and Larry Thornton's generous donation. With grants, local support, and a lot of elbow grease, the schoolhouse was moved, rebuilt, and dedicated in September 2000.

Today, the NVHS keeps its doors wide open, welcoming curious minds and school kids to experience a slice of 1800s education. It's happening tonight, Monday, June 16th. You can keep up-to-date with all of the Nanticoke Valley Historical Society activities here.
