LUMA, the largest projection fine arts and entertainment festival in the country, returned on September 2nd, just before our long Labor Day weekend to celebrate a bold confluence of technology and visual arts. LUMA is a festival founded by artists, for artists, with the wholehearted embrace of an entire city.
LUMA Festival is a free event that features the latest 3D projection mapping and animation technology to bring artwork to life on building facades.
All Friday night, starting at about 9pm, animations were projected at regular intervals on five buildings inside Downtown Binghamton. Festival-goers moved from building to building, at their own pace throughout the event to see the display of projected artworks. This year the Binghamton Philharmonic joined LUMA for live sound with one of the projections! It was amazing! If you missed LUMA this year, you're in luck! Katina and I shot some video! You can at least see some of the excellent artwork on the buildings in Downtown Binghamton!
