Meet Nate and Quinn Mitchell. The brother and sister are celebrating big birthdays this year, but have done something even bigger for the community.

Nate and Quinn live in Menands, New York (just outside of Albany) and they decided this year, instead of getting gifts for their big birthdays that they'd give gifts.

The brother and sister figured they already had enough stuff, so they thought it was better to help those who weren't as fortunate. 10-year-old Quinn and Nate, who will turn 13 in December, had a special birthday party and invited more than 100 friends. They did the normal kid birthday stuff like playing games and organizing organized fun contests. And then they made bologna sandwiches..for local homeless shelters. 900 sandwiches, to be exact.

Nate explains to WTEN-TV, "I just thought it was the right thing to do, and we have so much and [homeless people] have so little. I thought we should give back." They got the idea from a volunteer organization called Pay It Forward ... Together, which helps children and families in need.

The sandwiches were delivered to shelters and the kids hope that they've inspired others to pay it forward with an act of kindness.
