
Johnson City Kidnapping Report Found to Be False, Police Say
On July 21, 2025, the Johnson City Police Department responded to a report of a possible child abduction on the Northside of the village.
Police Launch Full-Scale Investigation
Following the report, Johnson City officers launched an thorough investigation. They combed through neighborhood surveillance footage, reviewed license plate reader data, and conducted in-person interviews with residents in the area where the alleged incident was said to have occurred.
No Evidence Found to Support the Claim
After completing a thorough review, Johnson City Police say they found no signs that a kidnapping actually took place. Surveillance cameras showed no suspicious activity matching the report, and license plate records turned up nothing out of the ordinary. Additionally, officers were unable to find any witnesses or residents who could confirm that anything suspicious occurred.

No Missing Children Reported
Perhaps most significantly, police confirmed there have been no reports of missing children from the area or surrounding jurisdictions that align with the timeline or details of the alleged incident. That fact, combined with the lack of physical or testimonial evidence, led investigators to conclude the report was false.
