KeyBank to Close Office in Endicott’s Union District
A big change is coming to a location in the village of Endicott that's been home to a bank for more than six decades.
KeyBank has announced it will close its Union Endicott branch on June 12.
The bank office is in a building that was constructed on the site of the Elvin Theater in the Union District of Endicott.
The old theater was torn down to clear the site for a Marine Midland Trust Company office which opened in 1963.
Over the years, HSBC, First Niagara and KeyBank have operated offices at the location.
Signs at the KeyBank office at 117 West Main Street advise customers that the branch will close June 12 at 3 p.m.
A new KeyBank office is scheduled to open June 15 at the Town Square Mall on the Vestal Parkway.
In response to an inquiry about the closing of the Endicott branch and the opening of the Vestal office, KeyBank issued a statement saying customers will benefit from the new location because it's "convenient" and "in the heart of a vibrant area." The statement added the Vestal site is "highly accessible on a major road."
The statement did not indicate any plans for the Endicott site.
