If you’ve been looking at your yard and thinking, “I really need to deal with those branches and leaves,” here’s your chance. The Town of Owego is offering free yard waste drop-off again, making spring cleanup much easier.

Drop-Off Dates and Times

From April 11 to October 24, 2026, Town of Owego residents can bring yard waste to the drop-off site on Kuenzli Road in Apalachin.

The site will be open during these times, depending on the weather:

  • Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Whether you’re cleaning up during the week or working on a bigger project over the weekend, you have options.

Accepted Materials

Before you load up your truck or trailer, here’s what you can bring to the site:

  • Tree limbs and branches from your yard (no bigger than 6 inches in diameter)
  • Brush
  • Grass clippings and leaves (just remember to empty your bags and take them home)

Items Not Accepted

Some items are not accepted, so please check before you come:

  • Tree trunks, roots, and large logs
  • Brush from lot clearing
  • Garbage or building materials
  • Anything brought by contractors or landscapers

If something isn’t from your regular yard work, it likely shouldn’t be dropped off here.
