A Broadway production opening this fall will entertain audiences with some of the intriguing aspects of the life of a "girl from Endwell."

The Queen of Versailles, a musical, recounts the story of Jacqueline Siegel who embarked on a plan to build the largest private home in America.

Siegel's birth name was Jacqueline Mallery. She was born in Broome County and grew up in Endwell. She graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1984.

The show is based on a 2012 documentary about the effort to construct the massive residence in Florida and how things didn't quite go as planned.

The Queen of Versailles will be staged at the St. James Theatre on Broadway with previews starting October 8. Kristen Chenoweth will portray Siegel.

The show features a song called "Caviar Dreams." It tells the tale of a young Jackie Mallery, "with a tiny life and great big dreams she has no clue how to achieve." The girl laments that she's "growing up in a town called Endwell... where the only way things end well is if you find a way to leave."

Jackie sings: "Tonight the kids'll all be hanging at the Oakdale Mall, where time moves slower than the Susquehanna!"
