Higher Ed. Credit in Less Time Expands at SUNY Schools
A program to help New Yorkers fill high-demand jobs in a shorter period of time is expanding.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced expansion of the Microcredential program that offers 400 plans across 31 State University of New York campuses, including in Broome County, to complete courses in a shorter timeframe than the years it takes to get a college degree.
Microcredentials provide certification in over 60 fields of study including healthcare, education, clean energy, criminal justice, information technology and advanced manufacturing.
The SUNY campuses can customize the microcredentials to meet the specific needs of the local workforce or community organizations.
Binghamton University and SUNY Broome Community College are among the campuses currently offering microcredentials.
