The Broome County District Attorney’s office says 38-year-old Kawon Imes was sentenced January 24 after being convicted in October of felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana as well as misdemeanor counts of menacing and using drug paraphernalia.

Police were called to Westover last February 28 with a report that Imes, who had relocated from Queens to Broome County, had threatened to kill his girlfriend at a Camden Street home while there were children present.

Broome County Sheriff’s deputies reported finding the handgun believed used in the incident and the gun was not registered to Imes.

Deputies say when they found Imes at a home on Grand Avenue, he and a woman were charged with 23 felony and four lesser counts.
