New York Still Can’t Get Enough of Game of Thrones, New Study Finds
More than six years after the final episode aired, Game of Thrones is still the television show New Yorkers search for the most online. A new study from BetMGM Casino found that the HBO fantasy series is the most searched TV show in New York so far in 2026. That puts it ahead of newer hits like From, Off Campus, and Stranger Things.
New Shows Have Not Taken the Top Spot
The researchers looked at Google search data for the most popular television series on IMDb in all 50 states. Even with a steady stream of new shows on streaming services, New Yorkers continue to search for Game of Thrones more than any other series.
The Show Is Still a Big Topic of Conversation
The study also found that people are still talking about Game of Thrones years after it ended. Researchers reviewed more than 73,000 podcast episodes released between January 1st and July 1st.

Game of Thrones was mentioned almost 6,900 times, making it the most talked about television show in the study. Stranger Things finished a close second with about 700 fewer podcast mentions.
A Lasting Impact
Game of Thrones first premiered in 2011 and ended in 2019, but it continues to attract attention from fans across New York and the country. The series has remained one of television's biggest cultural hits, with people still searching for it, discussing it, and revisiting it years after its finale.
