Foodie Friday Hot Pizza Dip Recipe
Like pizza? Like dip? Need something easy and delicious for the big game? Foodie Friday has your party food needs covered with a hot pizza dip. Very quick to make and you may already have the ingredients!
Hot Pizza Dip (Prep. time 30 minutes.)
1 (8-oz.) package softened cream cheese (could use low fat)
1/2 C sour cream (could use low fat)
1 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 C. spaghetti sauce
1 C. shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 C. chopped pepperoni (I found a cool package of mini pepperoni you don't have to chop)
1/4 C. sliced black olives
1/4 C. diced green pepper
(you can substitute any toppings, but for things like the pepper or onions, if you don't want the crunch, saute them first in a little olive oil until tender)
1/2 C. grated Parmesan cheese (I kicked it up by using shredded Asiago)
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9 inch pie pan with cooking spray. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and sour cream until relatively smooth. Stir in oregano and garlic until well blended. Spread mixture evenly into prepared pie plate. Top with pizza sauce and other toppings before sprinkling Parmesan or Asiago on top. Bake 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted.
I served it with toasted pita bread points or the pre-baked pizza shells. Crackers or chips would also work.
Notice, I made it half pepperoni and half with the olives and green peppers to cater to the tastes of my party-goers, all two of us.
