Even if you're new to the Binghamton area, you've probably heard of Johnny Hart, or at least seen some of his work as you've meandered around Broome County.

Just in case you need a refresher on who Hart was, he was a cartoonist who created the comic strips, B.C. and Wizard of Id and he hailed from Endicott. Hart was very active in our community and donated B.C.based drawings and logos free of charge to many entities and organizations found in Broome County. If you look closely, you'll still see his drawings and statutes all around.

Another massively famous person to come out of Binghamton was Rod Serling. Serling grew up on Binghamton's West Side and graduated from Binghamton High School in 1943. After serving in World War II, Serling landed in new York City where his career began. Serling would go on to become a screenwriter, playwright, television producer, and narrator. Serling was without a doubt, best known for his television series, The Twilight Zone.

Don Goddard also hailed from the Binghamton area. Goddard was born in Binghamton in 1904 and went on to work in the news industry. Before his death in 1994, Goddard built up quite the impressive resume, including serving as commentator for the early NBC News television show, "Watch the World" in 1946 and acting as host for the ABC Evening News from 1958-1959.

Here are five other famous people who hold ties to the Binghamton area.
