We were all SHOCKED when we heard the news about Eliza Fletcher. She was the Memphis teacher and mother of two that was kidnapped and eventually killed while she was out on an early morning run.

On Friday, September 2 at 4:20 a.m., Fletcher was abducted during her morning run near the University of Memphis campus. Her body was found on Monday, September 5th.

We may not have known her name then but we need to remember it now. We also need to make sure that EVERYONE feels safe while running/jogging in their own community, day or night.

Finish Eliza's Run Virtual Run

Eliza Fletcher never got to finish her 8.2 mile run but you can help her now in your own way. The Greater Binghamton Bridge Run is encouraging every one to participate in "Finish Eliza's Run."

From now until Sunday, September 18, you can participate in a virtual run to honor and grieve the loss of Eliza Fletcher. There is NO cost and you can walk, bicycle, roller skate...or even swim.

This is not a fundraiser and they are not taking donations. It's a completely free event to honor, mourn and remember Eliza. This also serves as a reminder that anything can happen in an instant that can change a life forever.

You can submit your distance and time if you would like and your encouraged to tag your run on social media using #finishelizasrun. This is a way to let others know in the community what you are doing.

You are encouraged to wear a pink top and purple shorts to show support for Eliza because that is what she was wearing on her run. The run ends, Sunday night, September 18 but you don't have to register to participate in the run to honor Eliza.
