If you’re on Facebook you might have noticed a new Facebook hoax.  This one has some people believing that Facebook has legal ownership of photos, videos, messages and other content posted to your page. They don’t.

The post, which has popped up in some users timelines, says in part:

In response to the new Facebook guidelines I hereby declare that my copyright is attached to all of my personal details, illustrations, comics, paintings, professional photos and videos, etc. (as a result of the Berner Convention). For commercial use of the above my written consent is needed at all times!

The message encourages the user’s friends to post the message on their own walls. Please don’t.
