A section of Route 12 in Chenango County was closed for several hours after one person was killed when a vehicle rolled onto its roof and burst into flames.

According to New York State Police, the one-car crash occurred on Route 12 in the town of Greene around 9:40 a.m. Monday.

The scene was south of Chenango Sales, a Ford car dealership.

Investigators said the vehicle was traveling north on Route 12 when it crossed into the southbound lane and went off the roadway. It then rolled over and caught on fire.

Route 12 was closed between Route 79 in Chenango Forks and Route Route 41 in Greene. The roadway reopened around 2:45 p.m.
