Embark on the Chenango Outdoor Challenge 2024: Explore, Engage, Win!
Are you ready to set out on a journey of discovery, wellness, and adventure? The Explore Chenango Outdoor Challenge 2024 is here to offer you an incredible opportunity to explore the great outdoors, improve your physical health, and enhance your mental well-being while contributing to the community.
In partnership with the Chenango County Department of Public Health and the Chenango County Planning Department, the Explore Chenango County Outdoor Challenge is designed to encourage individuals and families to engage in walking or hiking activities across different areas in the community.
The challenge kicks off with an event on April 20th at the Rogers Environmental Learning Center in Sherburne, coinciding with their Earth Day celebration.
To complete the challenge, participants are required to walk or hike 10 of the 14 specific locations on the trail map. Whether you prefer to explore individually, with your family, or in a group, the flexibility of this challenge allows you to tailor your experience to suit your preferences and schedule.
Upon completing the challenge, you can submit your trail log to the Chenango County Public Health by September 3, 2024. As a token of completion, you will receive a free bumper sticker and be entered into a raffle for a chance to win exciting prizes such as a YETI Water Jug, a Hydro Hydration Hip Pack, Hydro Flask Water bottle, or a Backpack Cooler Bag.
The challenge doesn't just end with the physical rewards – it's also a journey that can have a positive impact on your mental health. It's no secret that regular exercise and spending time in nature can have a positive impact on mental health. By focusing on the challenge and setting and achieving goals, you can redirect your attention, reduce negative thoughts, and improve your mood.
To connect with other participants, consider joining the conversation on the Chenango County Health Department Facebook page. For more information and details about the challenge, including additional hike locations and trail maps, check this out.
