Deposit Woman Rescued from Home After Beaver Dam Breaks
A Town of Deposit woman couldn't get out of her home when he it became surrounded by water following the collapse of a beaver dam.
Authorities say the resident of Barbour Brook Road called for help early Thursday evening.
Deposit Fire Chief Shaun Rynearson said the Eastern Broome Water Rescue Team was put on stand-by in case it was needed.
Rynearson said the water around the woman's home was about three feet deep. He said eight firefighters were able to assist her in getting out of the house.
The woman was transported by a New York State Police trooper to her mother's home.
Rynearson said it appeared no water wound up inside the house, even though the structure was surrounded.
The beaver dam that broke was on the Steam Mill Branch of Trout Creek in Delaware County. Rynearson said the dam apparently was more than two miles from the woman's home.
