The woman was hospitalized for several days, place in a medically-induced coma and put on life support following the attack.

District Attorney Patrick Perfetti says he doesn’t feel the sentence is remotely adequate related to the victim’s suffering.

Cole was sentenced for convictions on charges of rape, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful imprisonment.

Perfetti noted the jury had a lot to deal with during the trial, starting with the horrific nature of the case then dealing with the COVID pandemic at the commencement of the trial and waiting through a 4-month recess before the trial could resume in July.
