Binghamton Girl’s Sweet Stand Is Making Christmas Brighter for Local Children
In a world where kindness sometimes feels in short supply, a seven-year-old Binghamton girl is proving that compassion and generosity know no age limits. Ariana may be small, but her heart and mission are anything but.
Every summer, Ariana sets up a refreshment stand at 67 Thorp Street, and every penny she earns goes straight to a cause close to her heart. She doesn’t spend the money on toys or treats for herself, she uses it to buy Christmas gifts for the children at the Wyoming Conference Children’s Home. That’s right, this second-grader is already thinking months ahead to bring joy to kids who need it most during the holidays.
A Tradition Rooted in Love
This year marks the fifth time Ariana has hosted her “Refreshment Stand for a Cause,” and it’s become one of the things she looks forward to most. What started as a small idea has become a heartfelt tradition, where she combines her love for helping others with her creativity. And she doesn’t just stop at drinks and snacks. Ariana also makes handmade, personalized bracelets to sell, each one crafted with care and intention.
Simple Treats, Powerful Purpose
Everything at Ariana’s stand is just $1.00, whether it’s a bottle of water, soda, juice box, chips, cookies, or one of her bracelets. It’s affordable for anyone to stop by, and every purchase makes a difference. This year’s stand will be open on Saturday, June 14, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., or until everything sells out.
The Spirit of Giving, Passed Down From Mom
Ariana’s incredible generosity doesn’t come out of nowhere. Her mom, Ashley Chalker, beams with pride watching her daughter’s passion for giving grow year after year. “She has a heart of gold,” Ashley says. “She wants to make the world a better place, and she wants less fortunate children to feel special every Christmas.”
A Community Moment You Won’t Want to Miss
Supporting Ariana’s refreshment stand isn’t just about buying a snack, it’s about standing behind a little girl who is already making a big impact in Broome County.
