New York’s Favorite Soda Depends on Where You Live
If you ask New Yorkers to name their favorite soft drink, Coca-Cola is still the most popular choice statewide. Hard Rock Bet found that Coca-Cola got about 27,100 monthly searches in New York, making it the most searched soft drink in the state.
Dr Pepper came in second with 14,800 monthly searches, followed by Pepsi with 12,100. Sprite, Ginger Ale, and Mello Yello also ranked among the state's most searched soft drinks.
The Race Is Much Closer Than You Might Think
While Coca-Cola holds the top spot, the gap is much smaller when you look at different regions of New York. Some parts of the state prefer Dr Pepper over Coca-Cola. The data shows that New Yorkers are far from united when it comes to their favorite fizzy drink.
Upstate New York Has a Different Favorite
Several upstate markets gave Dr Pepper the edge over Coca-Cola. Watertown showed the strongest preference for Dr Pepper, with 60% of search interest compared to 40% for Coca-Cola.

Dr Pepper also came out ahead in Binghamton, Elmira, and Buffalo. In Binghamton, the split was nearly even, but Dr Pepper held a slight lead with 51% of search interest compared to 49% for Coca-Cola.
Coca-Cola Dominates Downstate
While Dr Pepper did well in several upstate communities, Coca-Cola remains the favorite in other parts of New York. New York City showed the strongest support for Coca-Cola, with 73% of search interest favoring the iconic soda. Coca-Cola also maintained leads in Syracuse, Utica, Rochester, the Capital Region, and the Plattsburgh area.
New York's Soda Tastes Are Surprisingly Diverse
The statewide rankings show that New Yorkers enjoy much more than just the biggest soda brands. Ginger Ale, Jarritos, Root Beer, Fresca, Ginger Beer, Tonic Water, Coke Zero, and Mountain Dew all appeared among the state's most searched soft drinks.
So What's Your Go-To Drink?
Coca-Cola narrowly leads statewide, but there is a friendly rivalry between Coca-Cola and Dr Pepper across New York. And if you're in Binghamton, Buffalo, Elmira, or Watertown, there's a good chance your neighbors are reaching for a Dr Pepper instead.
