Chenango County Couple Accused of Assaulting Young Boy and Girl
A Chenango County couple is accused of abusing two children.
Sheriff’s officials say a 5-year-old boy was treated at Chenango Memorial Hospital on September 5th for serious bruising from head to toe. Authorities say the boy also had what appeared to be tape marks on his arms. He was treated and released into the custody of the Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives then found a 5-year-old girl with similar injuries. She was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The same day, authorities arrested 29-year-old Samantha Smith of Plymouth on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child and released her to wait for her next date in court.
September 6, a warrant was issued for 38-year-old Vincent Guglielmo Junior of Plymouth for an assault charge.
September 11, Guglielmo was arrested by Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies, New York State Police and Forest Rangers and charged with two felony counts of assault, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $150,000 bail.
Authorities say the investigation is continuing.
