
Broome County Mobilizes Warming Centers to Combat Cold Wave
As dangerously cold temperatures and plummeting wind chills approach Broome County, local government is rallying to protect its residents from the unforgiving winter weather.
In response to the impending cold front, BC Transit will provide free rides to all passengers until the end of the day on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. This effort aims to facilitate access to warming centers and ensure the safety of individuals throughout the county.

Broome County, in collaboration with the Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Broome County Office of Emergency Services, has identified a network of warming centers strategically placed throughout the region. These centers offer refuge and respite from the cold for those in need.
