Bradford County Man Finds Explosive Surprise in His Lockbox

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating what turned out to be a big, unpleasant surprise for a Northern Tier resident.

Troopers say a Rome Township man opened a lockbox on his Maximus Lane property at 11:56 a.m. on August 25 and found a mortar-type explosive inside.

Troopers say the PSP Hazardous Device and Explosives (HDES) responded at 3 p.m., removed the device and disposed of it.

There were no reports of injuries.

Authorities have not said how they think the explosive made its way onto the man’s property.
