A lot of exciting things are happening at the Binghamton Zoo. Howloween begins at the zoo on October 6th and the Boo at the Zoo starts on October 19th. Now the 5th oldest zoo is proud to announce the arrival of Avanti, a two year old female Amur leopard.

The Binghamton Zoo continues to try and protect the endangered animals and this is no exception. The Amur leopard is on the Critically Endangered IUCN Red List with only 84 left in the wild and 200 in captivity.

Avanti was born on July 26th, 2016 at the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend, Indiana. This Saturday, September 22nd from 10:30 a.m. to noon, the Binghamton Zoo will have a welcoming party and you are invited.

She will get a special enrichment item and you'll have a chance to sign a welcome banner for her. During the welcoming party, you can also symbolically adopt Avanti.

She will be in her indoor and outdoor areas but is still adjusting to her new surroundings. You are being asked not to make loud noises when stopping by to see her for the next couple of weeks.

The Binghamton Zoo is located at 60 Morgan Road in Binghamton.
