Monday is Memorial Day and here are some things we can do to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Fly your US Flag at half-staff until noon on Monday. You can also fly the 'POW/MIA Flag' (Section 1082 of the 1998 Defense Authorization Act.)

Take the time on Monday and visit your local cemeteries and place flags or flowers on the graves of our fallen heroes. You can participate in a "National Moment of Remembrance" at 3 p.m., where you take a moment, pause, and think about the true meaning of the day and then play Taps.

It's also not a bad idea to send a prayer up for the ones that never returned home. While you are bowing your head (or however it is you pray/send good thoughts), say one for the vets that have returned home but can use your thoughts and prayers.

Binghamton Memorial Day Parade

Also on Monday, you could attend the annual Memorial Day Parade beginning at 10 a.m. This special event was paused last year because of the pandemic but it's back and it'll start at the Binghamton Fire Department, Station #1 on Hawleytown Road and go down to Saddlemire Road and ending at the cemetery.

The Binghamton Township Historical Society's history museum will also be open on Memorial Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. located at 923 Hawleyton Road.
