So last week, the 12 newest members of the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame was announced. The ceremony and dinner is at the Binghamton Double Tree by Hilton on Monday, April 18th. Unfortunately, one of the inductees won't be there.

Steve Kraly has passed away at the age of 86. He was a star pitcher for the Binghamton Triplets and went on to pitch with the New York Yankees.

He was 19-2 for the Triplets and was called up to the Yankees in August of 1953. He as 0-2 in five games. He lost both times to Bob Lemon. The Yankees also won the World Series that year so he got a ring as well.

He played until the 1960 season. Casey Stengel asked Steve to come to training camp with the New York Mets when they were established in 1962.  In those days, the money isn't what it is today, so he stayed with his job for IBM and moved to Johnson City.

In 1992, the Binghamton Mets came to town. He was the Official Scorer for them from 1992-2014. He was inducted into the Binghamton Baseball Shrine in 1997.

As I mentioned he will be inducted into the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame next month.

You can still get tickets to event here. New York Yankee General Manager Brian Cashman is the featured speaker. I'm sure he'll have some words about Steve during his speech.
