Animal Adventure Park Welcoming Many New Additions to the Family

Many exciting things have been happening at Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville. First of all, I want to say "Thank you" to Jordan Patch for supporting our 98.1 the Hawk's "Country Cares for St. Jude's Kids" Radiothon. It's people like you that helped us to exceed $52,000 during our event.

The family at Animal Adventure Park continues to grow in the last week alone. On Thursday, February 4th, they welcomed their second Bactrian camel calf, Teddy. He arrived early after sunrise by Kira.

On February 7, Animal Adventure Park announced the arrival of a set of Blackbelly Sheep twins. One male and female brings their 2021 lamb count up to 4 and they aren't close to done yet.

Then on February 9, Lucy, one of their dromedary camels gave birth to a male calf. She gave birth outside in their yard (the animals get to chose) and Ricky appears to be doing well.

If you're concerned that a camel was giving birth outside in the cold and snow, then worry no longer. I try to learn something new every day and this is what I learned today. Camels can adapt to almost anything and can stand extreme temperatures in both directions.

But wait there's more. On February 10, three different black belly ewes each welcomed a single male. That brings their lamb count to 7 in 2021 so far. It looks like it's going to be a great year for Code Green birth announcements at the park.

Well, I guess we know how the animals have been spending time during the pandemic while we had to stay away. So what species will be next?
