Our health care providers and support staff have been under so much stress lately, especially those who work in the COVID units at our local hospitals that Townsquare Media Binghamton has come up with a plan to inject some lightheartedness into their day.

National Taffy Day is this Saturday, May 23, and there's something about eating taffy that makes people giggle. It might be because eating the candy reminds them of being a kid, it might be the jokes on the packages, or it might be because the sugary mass of goo has a way of getting caught in teeth.

On Friday, May 22, employees of Townsquare Media Binghamton will be dropping off goodie bags filled with sweet treats, including taffy, to those working on the COVID floors at Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital, UHS Wilson Medical Center, and UHS Binghamton General Hospital.

If you'd like to celebrate National Taffy Day and are not only looking for an activity to do with the kids but are also feeling gumptious, why not attempt to make your own taffy at home?  You won't need a whole bunch of ingredients, but you will need a candy thermometer. This is our favorite step-by-step taffy making the recipe.
