Cutting-Edge MRI Technology Arrives In Southern Tier
United Health Services (UHS) and Binghamton University have teamed up to bring a fantastic MRI scanning center to the Southern Tier. This facility is worth over $2.5 million and boasts the Siemens MAGNETOM Prisma 3 Tesla scanner.
This makes it one of the most advanced MRI technologies in the entire region and guess what? It's already up and running, so it's ready to help our community with it's discoveries right now.
This partnership helps the Binghamton University faculty to do clinical research as they can focus on things like biomedical research, especially neurosciences and computer science. The breakthroughs that are possible as the studies will help to unveil the secrets about brain disorders including Alzheimer's disease and autism.
This fancy scanner can diagnose brain diseases and disorders, cardiovascular issues, and orthopedic injuries. It also means that people won’t have to travel to places out of town like Syracuse, Rochester, and NYC to get cardiac MRIs.
UHS and Binghamton University Partner To Bring MRI Scanning Center To The Area
John M. Carrigg, UHS's president and CEO, says this partnership will open some new research avenues for the faculty. It'll also give the UHS doctors and patients access to the latest diagnostic imaging technology around. These MRI studies will combine physics, anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and data processing sciences.
Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger says that this partnership is a game-changer for the community. With the most advanced imaging technology in the region t means they’ll attract funding and build research relationships with industry and other universities. It's a win-win situation!
