I'm very excited about Opening Day with the defending Eastern League champion-winning Binghamton Mets, April 16th in downtown Binghamton.  After the winter we all experienced, it seems like everyone I talk to seems to be more than ready to spend quality time outdoors, and taking in some great baseball games this year.  Are YOU ready?

Here are the 5 reasons I am extra excited about a new season of  Binghamton Mets baseball:

1)  A winning team!  I like to hang out with winners and as you know, the Binghamton Mets won the Eastern League Championship last summer.

2)  The return of Pedro Lopez to the Southern Tier for his fourth season as manager. Lopez, the winningest manager in B-Mets history, will be joined by pitching coach Glenn Abbott and hitting coach Luis Natera. Athletic trainer Deb Iwanow and strength and conditioning coach Dane Inderrieden round out Lopez's staff.

3)  BMets light up the sky.  Binghamton Mets have the best fireworks displays in the Southern Tier and they sure have lots to chose from.  Check out the schedule HERE.

4)  The return of Buddy and Ballwinkle and introduction of Mini Plans.  Where do the Binghamton Mets mascots go all winter?  I guess that doesn't matter but seeing them at the games each week and light up the face of kids of all ages is worth the price of admission in itself.  Mini plans are new this year with special offers on firework nights, rivals beer and wine clubs.  It's always a game and a show at a Binghamton Mets game!

5)  Shorts!  For the most part, the Binghamton Mets baseball season is snow free.  As you know, that's no guarantee on opening day as a past season ticket holder, I attended many inclement-weather-driven opening day games.  But once May hits, it's sure to be shorts attire for most of the season!

The Binghamton Mets are pleased to announce that the annual "Welcome Back B-Mets" Dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7 at the Holiday Inn in downtown Binghamton.

Tickets are $25.00 per person. B-Mets players and mascots will arrive at 5:30 PM for the "Meet the Mets" autograph reception. Dinner will be served promptly at 7:00 PM followed by a special baseball program with team and manager introductions.

All proceeds from this year's event will go towards scholarships for local children to participate in the B-Mets Players Camp held in July at NYSEG Stadium. For more information contact Robin Alpaugh at (607) 725-4882.
