With everything that seems to be going on around us, I'm always happy to pass along some good news. After being paused because of the coronavirus pandemic last year, it's back this summer. BINGHAMTON PORCHFEST IS BACK!!!

Porchfest reminds me of my childhood and sitting on the porch in my hometown of Warren Center, Pa. I loved to sit on the swing and listen to the rain and hear the cars as they would drive by on the wet roadway.

It brings back some awesome memories of a simpler time. When I think about that special porch, I think of my grandmothers. Labor Day weekend, they would sit on the porch swing and chat during the Warren Center townwide yard sale.

They are both gone now and when I see my daughter, Tara sitting on the same swing as her great-grandmothers, it brings a tear to my eye and a smile on my face. As we like to say on the Hawk Morning Show, "it's about perspective." When I think about these memories, I realize that I'm a fortunate person and I need to appreciate the people around me.

Binghamton Porchfest began in 2015 and is held on the final Sunday of August. It has quickly become one of our area's treasured events with over 150 performances by local and regional musicians.

Binghamton Porchfest 2019

So save the date, Sunday, August 29th, and get ready to take a stroll through Binghamton's West Side neighborhood from 12 to 7 p.m. for this free celebration of music and community.

I shared my memories, what do you think of when you think about your porch?
