The top 5 reasons to go to the Dick's Sporting Goods Open this weekend.  These are in no particular order but I have to start somewhere.

5) On Sunday, the 1,000 winner will be declared.  In 1980, at the Atlantic City Country Club in Atlantic City, N.J. was the first-ever Senior PGA TOUR (now Champions Tour) event.  The winner was Don January. Thirty-three years later, the Champions Tour will celebrate the milestone of crowning the 1,000th champion. Don will be on hand to crown the 1,000th winner.

4) A star-studded field to participate.  It's the best field of Champion golfers, you'll find outside of the majors.  I believe all but a couple of the top 50 golfers will be here.  Kenny Perry is the Schwab cup point leader and he'll be in the last group on Friday, teeing off at 1:30. Hometown hero, Joey Sindelar, along with my personal favorite Fred Funk will go off at 1:09.  To see complete schedule for Day 1 tee times, go here.

3)  Free golf on Saturday courtesy of Hinman, Howard & Kattell. In 2009 they extended their first invitation to “En-Joie the Day on HH&K” for the Saturday round of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open. 4 years later, they are still doing it.  There are many businesses that you can go to get your free ticket or go here to print one out.

2) Wendy's Walk for Kids on Sunday. The 5th annual Wendy's Walk for Kids will wrap up the weekend.  This year's goal is to raise $225,000 for the The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Handicapped Children's Association, Broome County Urban League and Mom's House. You can walk up the 18th green behind the leaders. Go here to participate and find out more.

1) Tim McGraw in concert Friday night. This is the first show to sell out at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open (I think.) I've been asked when the show will be.  I'm guessing between 8 and 9 (don't quote me) but don't wait til the last minute to get there. We need your help, we want Tim to change the lyrics of his new song "Southern Girl" to "Southern Tier Girl" when he performs.  Here's how you can help us. I've also been asked if Faith Hill is showing?  I don't know but wouldn't that be great.

Once again these are in no particular order.  If you ask me, they are tied for 1st.  The weather is supposed to be great all weekend so hope to see you there.
