Each week, over 11,000 people visit a hunger-relief member agency served by the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 8.7 million pounds of food to people in need here in the Southern Tier.

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier has announced they'll be participating in the Feinstein Foundation's $1 Million Challenge to fight hunger, but they need our help.

Since 1998, the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation has been helping food banks, emergency food programs, and other non-profit anti-hunger organizations boost their fundraising efforts through the Feinstein Million Dollar Challenge.

Donations to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier received between March 1st and April 30th will be counted in the challenge.  Donations can include cash, checks and food items (values at $1 per pound). The more donations received by the Southern Tier Food Bank, the more funds from the Feinstein $1 Million Challenge the Food Bank will receive.

The Feinstein Foundation will divide its own $1 million between all non-profit anti-hunger groups that report the funds they raise during the challenge between March 1st and April 20thh, 2014.
