Each year I look forward to attending the luncheon hosted by the Binghamton Bearcats Athletic Association because they bring in fantastic speakers. In years past speakers such as world champion softball pitcher Jennie Finch and Olympic Hall of Fame Gymnast Shannon Miller have shared their stories. And now we've learned that the 2015 speaker will be Rebecca Lobo, Olympic Champion and WNBA star.

As the 1995 consensus National Player of the Year, Lobo led the University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball team to their first National Championship. In 1996, she won a gold medal as the youngest member of the U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team and from there, embarked on a successful seven-year WNBA career. Today Lobo is a basketball analyst for ESPN.

The 10th annual Celebrating Women’s Athletics Luncheon will take place on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 12pm at the Events Center at Binghamton University.

The luncheon is held to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of Binghamton University’s female student athletes and to raise scholarship funds for female student athletes at the University.

The luncheon is open to the public, so if you'd like to attend, there are table sponsorships available as well as individual tickets. To learn more, please call 77-BTIX (2849).
