I totally never imagined that I would be someone who would have both cable and a service like Netflix in my home, but I've become that person.

I'm more of a book reader than I am a TV watcher, but I've lived without sleep for almost two years. I started experiencing insomnia when I was pregnant and I've virtually been unable to sleep in the 13 months since my son was born. It's not that I don't want to sleep, because I do. I crave it. I'm angry about not being able to sleep. I'm exhausted. But sleep will not come. And so I quietly watch things while the rest of my house sleeps.

My experience with Netflix started when I realized that I needed the service to watch 'Fuller House.' I signed up for a Netflix trial and was thrilled to learn that in addition to being able to watch 'Fuller House,' I could pull up shows I loved as a kid like 'Bill Nye the Science Guy,' and 'Magic School Bus' for my son. My husband loves Netflix because he's able to watch 'Sons of Anarchy' and I love it because I don't have to spend money to buy the show box sets which would probably just gather dust.

I knew after our trial ended and we signed up for full Netflix service that we'd probably have to shell out more money at some point because the price of everything eventually goes up. I just didn't realize that the price would go up so much and so quickly.

Starting this May, Netflix customers who currently pay $7.99 for high-definition streaming will have to pay an additional $2 per month for the same service. Industry insiders say 37% of Netflix customers will be affected, but that only 3 to 4% will actually leave because of the price bump. I'm guessing with the number of subscribers they have, Netflix won't be too sad about 3-4% jumping ship.
