Representatives of a Syracuse company that has applied to open a medical marijuana production facility at a former grocery warehouse on Oakdale Road in Johnson City say they anticipate New York State's regulatory board could grant the available necessary licenses to applicants in the state, maybe before the weekend.

Salus Scientific co-founder and CEO, Nichole Ruvo-Falcone says the medical cannabis company is adding researchers and medical experts as it moves forward in looking for effective treatment for debilitating neurological conditions including Parkinson’s Disease through medicinal marijuana.

Doctor M. Flint Beal, an authority in neurodegenerative disorders and Kevin McKernan, founder of a cannabis plant genetics research facility, Medicinal Genomics have recently been added to the scientific advisory board for Salus Scientific.

If the state grants one of five licenses to Salus, the company plans to locate the cultivation facility in 120-thousand square feet between Main Street, Westover and Harry L. Drive.

In looking for an appropriate site, Ruvo-Falcone says they not only looked at available space but were impressed by the area’s history of industry and its available, reliable workforce.

The company is also planning to locate dispensaries in Vestal, the Town of LeRay, Dewitt and Maspeth.
