On March 22nd, Ed Ulfik, a medic at Chenango Ambulance, member of the Oxford Police Department, and a paramedic student at STPP suffered from a pulmonary embolism and subsequent cardiac arrest. Sadly after a brave fight, Ed passed away at the age of 33 on March 31st.

A bike ride in honor of Ed Ulfik in the form of a poker run is scheduled for Saturday May 17th at Davey’s Bar in Chenango Forks. Registration for the bike run is from 1-1:55pm with kick stands up at 2pm. The ride is $15 per bike and $5 a passenger.

The ride will travel Route 79 from Chenango Forks to the Halftime Lounge in Whitney Point where you’ll get your second card. From the Halftime riders will take NY 26 north to the Brackle Bar & Grille for their third card. The route will then follow NY-41S to Seebers Tavern for the fourth card then from Seebers to NY41s to NY Rte 12 to Lippys Bar and Grill in Greene by 4:30pm to get the last poker card where participants will be at the benefit and will receive a refreshment, plate of food, and can enjoy music, raffles and fun times.

There will also be a benefit going on during the ride which will be open to the public at  Lippy’s Bar and Grill in Greene and is also open to children as activities will be available for them. Admission to just the benefit (not the ride) from 12pm-7pm is $10 for adults, $5 for Children 2-12- years-old. Admission includes food,dessert,drink and 5 raffle tickets.
