Last Sunday, after Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse caught a 35-yard touchdown pass in overtime to send the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl, Kearse threw the ball into the seats of CenturyLink Field and that ball was caught by 32-year-old Scott Shelton.

Despite the fact that Shelton is a father of two and currently unemployed, he turned down a $20,000 offer from a sports memorabilia collector who wanted the football.

But the offers didn't stop there.

After being approached by the memorabilia collector, Shelton got a call from Kearse, who offered to trade a helmet signed by the team and his game jersey for the ball.

Shelton says he might take up the offer from Kearse, but is holding out for a ticket to the Super Bowl.

No matter what happens, the ball won’t be going far, as Shelton explained, “I told Jermaine Kearse I wouldn't give it up unless it was going to him. I wouldn't want anyone else to have it."  Even if it costs him $20,000.
