Major Traffic Delays Expected in Endicott Ahead of Bon Jovi Concert
It’s not every day that the little town of Endicott is visited by golf legends such as Bernhard Langer, Fred Funk, Kenny Perry, and John Daly. And it’s certainly not every day that one of the most popular rock bands of all time, Bon Jovi, rolls into town.
With the return of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open and a Friday night concert by Bon Jovi, Endicott officials are bracing for record crowds and traffic snarls. Officials say they’ve been working on plans since early this year to do all they can to make this a positive experience for spectators and they’ve got plans in place to try to keep traffic moving as smoothly as possible.
Michael Ponticiello, Broome County Director of Emergency Services told WBNG, “We are certainly expecting heavier than normal traffic throughout the Endicott area and we’ve been planning for that. Particularly on Friday, we’re expecting our heaviest traffic with the concert.”
Headed to Friday night’s concert? DICK’S Sportings Goods Open organizer Dave Passagino says that you should plan to arrive early and to stay late.
Whether you’re just traveling through or will be attending the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open, plan accordingly. On Friday (August 18th), Industrial Park Boulevard will be closed and then starting at 12pm, sections of Main Street will be blocked off. Beginning at 2pm, Main Street will be reduced to two lanes of westbound traffic from Nanticoke Avenue to Grippen Avenue. Eastbound traffic will be prohibited.
