According to the website, Movoto.com, the City of Buffalo ranks above New York City as the "10 Most Dangerous Places in New York State."  In fact, New York City didn't even crack the top 10 but Village of Johnson City and the City of Binghamton placed number 7 and 8 respectively.

The real estate web site cites the Village of Johnson City for having 949 property crimes (828 thefts, 111 burglaries, and 10 vehicle thefts) and City of Binghamton for having 284 violent crimes, including 3 murders, 19 rapes, 101 robberies, and 161 assaults.  Broome County made the top 10 for 2,349 property crimes for its population of 46,304.
