Have You Ever Abandoned a Car?

On my Texas Christmas road trip I saw a ton of cars abandoned on the highway. I'm talking plates off, I ain't going back for it abandoned. So I got to thinking, who does that? What do you do with your stuff inside? Do you take your tag off then or do you have to find someone with a working car who can take you back there?

My next thought... Could you turn this into a money making venture? Lets say you identify yourself with the surrounding cities and tell them what you are going to do. Pick 'em up with your flatbed trailer, and haul em out to fix them. Get a salvage title and resell as is or at the very least scrap them for the metal price.

Would the cities DPW be happy to have you doing that, or would they say no because they are scrapping them themselves?
