If your neck aches after using your iPad, you could be suffering from a very real condition called "iPad neck."

I know, I though this was a joke too. Until I was gifted with an iPad and realized I was doing everything experts say is bad to do. Now, I'm a believer in the iPad neck.

According to Washington State University researchers, iPads and other tablet devices put three times as much strain on our neck muscles as desktop computers. Researchers say it's the position of the tablet that's the problem. Using a tablet flat or on your lap is what causes the increased level of neck bending and strain.

Experts say this added strain on the neck can cause a bunch of problems from headaches to neck injury to back pain.

What can you do to combat "iPad neck?"  Well, here's what researchers say: “While it is nearly impossible to avoid the technologies that cause these issues, individuals should make an effort to look at their phones with a neutral spine and to avoid spending hours each day hunched over.”
