Spring cleaning is in full swing at the Davison household and thanks to a couple of events coming up in the Greater Binghamton area, it is about to get a whole lot easier.

The easiest way to cut down on stress in your life and as one author suggests, lose weight, is to organize your living space and eliminate the stuff you no longer use. The most efficient way to go about it is to take one room a week.  Start with the biggest mess first and work your way down to the easiest.

Right now in my garage, I have an old microwave, a non-working TV with video player and other assorted electronics waiting to get rid of.  They are no value to me or to the landfill, so I might as well recycle it.  There's free electronics recycling on Saturday April 25th from 8 am to noon, to coincide with the Southern Tier's annual Earth Fest on the SUNY Broome campus in Binghamton. There will also be an opportunity to shred personal documents.

Items such as printers, tablets, personal computers, external storage devices, cameras, audio/video, clocks, MP3 players, VCRs, DVRs, DVDs, GPS devices, televisions, cell phones, PDAs, desk phones, cables, cords, monitors and other peripheral equipment will be accepted.  White goods and loose batteries are excluded from this offering. The participating companies reserve the right to reject any product.

If you have quite a few working electronics, automotive items, toys, collectable, clothes, jewelry, hand made items and crafts, you might as well make some money.  Did you hear about the Thrift With a Twist Fundraising Shop World's Largest Yard Sale?  In it's second year, last year's event brought thousands of people to the Broome County Fairgrounds in Whitney Point, New York.  It's back at the Fairgrounds Saturday May 16th from 9am-3pm.  The best way to sell is to rent a booth.  Details are on the Hawk web site or by calling (607) 772-8400 during business hours.

There you go, a couple of ideas to get rid of the stress in your life, recycle and even make some extra money on the clutter in your life.
