The City of Binghamton and the Binghamton Home-ownership Academy is hosting Saturday classes for first time homebuyers interested in buying a house in the City of Binghamton, Broome County and Chenango County.

Through these free Saturday classes, participants will learn about financial counseling, savings programs and basic education that will be very beneficial and will reap long-term benefits for the new home owner, the neighborhood and the community.

Attending the course is now a per-requisite to qualify for the city's homebuyer program. Those who attend may also be connected to housing grants and resources offered by other academy partners such as First Ward Action Council, Quaranta Housing Services or Metro Interfaith.

The City of Binghamton is also offering up to $10,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance for first time homebuyers in the city of Binghamton. Quaranta Housing Services is offering $22,500 in assistance for first time homebuyers in Broome and Chenango Counties.

Classes will be held Saturdays from 9am-1pm on March 8, 15, 22 and 29th at First Niagara Homeownership Center, 112-122 State Street in Binghamton.
