The Phelps Mansion Museum is always a spectacular place to visit in downtown Binghamton and I'm happy to see so many events happening at this historic building.  Sunday at 2pm, the Phelps Mansion Museum and Local Authors will present a play based on a historical novel “ Dear Friend Amelia” written by Mary Jordan, Joyce Hatch, and John Kenosian.

The play chronicles how an individual is transformed by war from initial stage of patriotism and seeking glory to coming to grips with the true horrors and sacrifices associated with war. John’s letters to Amelia range from being poetic and affectionate to angry and disillusioned.

Carefully scripted narrations set the historical context for the letters of the members of the Union 109th Regiment who served with Private Tidd and presents the unvarnished view of the Civil War. The play commemorates the sacrifice of John Tidd and his Civil War contemporaries.

Cost; Adults $15, Members of the Phelps $10 , Students $5
