I have enjoyed many meals at Number 5.  Through the years, I've entertained some country stars and many record reps, friends that have dined at some of the best restaurants in the country and most of these people have requested to come back to Number 5 on the Southside of Binghamton.

It is after all, a unique dining experience.  It's not everyday you eat in a former firehouse. During Binghamton Restaurant Week, it's the perfect opportunity to take in the charm Number 5 presents with some of the best food you will find in Binghamton.  It is without question, one of the best dining experiences you could treat yourself to in the Southern Tier.  It's that special.

And special is what they made me and my party feel.  Gene is the general manager and was sure to give me a warm welcome before we checked our coats in.  I had the option of making my reservation upstairs or downstairs.  Both are perfect settings at Number 5 but I do favor upstairs dining at Number 5.  The linens on the tables were crisp and perfectly placed.  Very much inviting.  Walking by some of the patrons, everyone had smiles on their faces.  Everybody seems to enjoy Number 5.

Adam introduced himself as our waiter.  I remembered Adam from a visit a while back so I knew he would make it a special night.  The presented menu for Binghamton Restaurant Week were a very nice selection and I have to admit, it was not an easy choice as I wanted one of everything.  It's very clear they put a lot of thought in to their special menu.  Adam mentioned that some of options were new while others are Number 5 favorites.  That in itself is impressive.

While Number 5 is known for it's steaks and chops and I always seem to gravitate toward seafood at Number 5. See if this doesn't sound amazing:  Course 1: Sweet Pea Cajun Shrimp (they have to add this to their awesome regular menu!) and for the main course: Pistachio Oven Roasted Ahi Tuna topped with avocado and jalapeno and our other choice: Cedar Plank Salmon is lemon herb and cracked pepper salmon, oven roasted and served on a Dijon and rosemary rubbed cedar plank with a lemon butter sauce. Both were served with the most tender and tasteful brussels sprouts I've ever had.  All entrees had excellent presentation and were to die for.

I highly recommend Number 5 for Binghamton Restaurant Week or anytime.  Owner Jim McCoy should be proud of what he has build with the consistently perfect team in turning out top notch food plate after plate.  Binghamton Restaurant Week is the perfect time to try this 5 star restaurant or if you're like me, revisit an old friend and try some new dishes that were added for this special fundraiser that benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton and the Handicapped Children's Association.

Thank you to Adam, Gene and Jim for making me feel so welcome and appreciated.  I can't wait to come back!
